Lucid – I Can’t Help Myself (Lucid Vocal Mix) (1997)

Lucid are UK house duo of Mark Hadfield & Adam Ryan-Carter.

Hailing from Manchester, Mark Hadfield’s career in the music industry as a tea boy at Moonraker Studios, where he eventually progressed to become mix engineer. By night Mark had begun to spend much time performing on the rave circuit with Danny ‘Doo Lally D’ Bennetts Hibrid. Alongside Childhood friend, Stephen Wood, he created Northern Rave giants Rhythm Quest and was a regular performer on the Northern Rave Circuit, sharing the bill at many nights including The Tunnel, Nation, Kellys with other bands such as The Prodigy & SLII.

He was approached by Pete Waterman PWL in 1994 and agreed to set up & run dance label Eastern Bloc Records along with Paul Taylor and Paul Waterman. The label had success with club/chart hits including Atlantic Ocean (Waterfall & Body in Motion) and signed Armand Van Helden’s first ever release. They also enjoyed 4 top 40 UK hits as a group Loveland (feat. Rachel McFarlane (Let the Music lift you up, I need somebody, Don’t make me wait, Keep on Shining) and at the same time the group were carving out a career as one of the UKs most successful producer/remixers.

In 1997 under the new name ‘Movers & Shakers’ Mark & Paul Waterman remixed hits for artists including Kylie Minogue, Donna Summer, Culture Beat and Dominica (I gotta let you go).

New style dance trend Trance saw the birth of Lucid in 1998 with hits (I can’t help myself, Crazy, Stay with me till dawn)
