Gusto – Disco’s Revenge (Mole Hole Dirty Mix) (1995)
Edward Lee Greene, also known as Gusto, is an American house producer and DJ. He is best known for his song “Disco’s Revenge”, which was released in 1996 and charted in several countries. Ed Greene started rapping in the mid-1980’s, establishing and running the Soul Power Records label, before moving over to house music in the early 1990’s. Prior to attaining success with his “Disco’s Revenge” track he worked as a residential specialist helper for people with disabilities.
The song, which mainly consists of a looped sample from Harvey Mason’s 1979 song “Groovin’ You”, reached number 9 in the United Kingdom and reached number one on the dance charts in Canada. The title quotes Frankie Knuckles, who had described house music as being “disco’s revenge”.
